The apartment was clean, has a nice balcony over-looking the lively Centro Havana neighborhood. The area is quite loud but the bedroom is tucked away so stayed pretty quiet at night/morning. Magaly was very helpful. She was there when we arrived and gave us thorough recommendations for sights to see, transportation, and shopping in the area. The markets in the neighborhood have the very basic food necessities but not what you might be used to at home so I'd recommend mostly eating out although there is a small but functional kitchen in the apartment. Overall we loved staying here. Easy to walk to the Malecon, into Vedado, and Habana Vieja.

My sister and I had an amazing time in Havana, Cuba, and Magaly was more than helpful, informative, and extremely kind. The area of Central Habana is interesting in terms of the local feel & the sights, sounds and beautiful locals... With that said, the street noises can seem like a clamorous cacophony at times (depending when you wake up ;), but we felt the sounds of the neighborhood, albeit noisy at times, completely added to our incredible experience overall. The apartment has all you need, with a kitchen, AC, fans, Clean towels and even a house phone that proved helpful in terms of getting in touch with other friends in Cuba when we were home but without internet service. The space feels safe and secure, but do note: there is no elevator and about 4-5 flights of stairs (not too steep though) that are not that bad at all. Just a note if you're a heavy packer! ???? Other than that, the apartment is clean and in a great location with a awesome balcony to people watch and/or just relax and take it all in... We definitely hope to return soon!

Magalis was an amazing host who always seemed to know the exact ways in which to be helpful. Despite the lack of cell service or internet on my part, Magalis was there to greet us when we arrived at the apt. Everything went so smoothly. She gave us the most helpful tips and took the time to ensure that we had everything we needed. When we left, she was super helpful in getting us a taxi so that we didn't miss our flight. I would stay in her apt. again because the location was perfect. Centro Habana is a close walk to Habana Vieja while being far from the tourists, so you get a real feel for local life. It's also close to Vedado sights, but you're not in the thick of those huge tourist hotels. The best part is being close to the Malecon! The apt. was cozy, comfortable, and clean, with all the amenities that one would need. We felt completely safe the entire time. Even the neighbors in the apt. and in the neighboring houses were so friendly, so we really felt like a part of the community.

Staying at Magalis's is an authentic housing experience in Central Havana. The home is clean in relation to where you are staying. Warm shower. The power did go out one night for 15 minutes only. Very good value for 2 people. She did a good job giving us a sectioned off area of her home and a key to lock our room. She does not speak any English, but we got by with broken Spanish. We were given exact directions to her place through Airbnb messaging in Spanish. I responded back in Spanish asking her some questions, but it took awhile for her to get back to me. When she did, she just repeated the same directions without answering my question. We just went there having faith that she would be there at the time we arrived and she was! She's very nice and a gracious host. Hard to blame her on bad communication since Cuba barely has internet and she probably used a third party to respond.

Where should I start? First of all, I had many questions about safety and amenities (running water and A/C) before booking this place because it was our first trip to Cuba and our daughter was with us. Magali was very responsive and reassuring, and very patient with my numerous inquiries. She is VERY sweet and understanding. I was worried about how we would get in touch with her when we arrived, but she gave very clear instructions, and she met us at the apartment within 1 min of our arrival. Magali spent 1 hr with me, explaining how to get around and recommending local restaurants (which were very good and reasonable with exception of La Guarida). She gave advice and cautionary tips. Several perks of this apartment - running water (and hot if you need it) at all times of the day. I met two women who were in a casa 2 blocks away and they didn't have running water all the time. Magali provided 2 large bottles of drinking water which was key because we didn't have to run out to get water (the same two women were ripped off and charged CUC2 for a small bottle of water). ***there is a Honeywell combination lockbox in our bedroom, which was great! Air conditioning was very very good (too good for my husband and me, but my daughter can't sleep in a warm room). There is a fan to use in the living room, which is very cute with a piano, or you can use it in the bedroom. The kitchen has a huge refrigerator and freezer which we used to cool our water, and keep leftovers and snacks. The stove and microwave was great to heat food up. Breakfast around the corner with her cousin was AMAZING with a whole plate of fresh fruit, eggs made to order, muffins or bread, fresh juice and great coffee, along with reading material to boot. It was served in a beautiful, naturally lit foyer, and the cost was nominal. The apartment location is ideal - far away from the noisy, touristy Habana Vieja, and closer to Vedado. We wanted to stay in authentic Habana and that's where this is. Also very very close to the best and reasonably priced restaurants (La Concordia on the corner of Gervasio and Concordia recommended by Magalis was our absolute favorite). It is in a very humble area and not an upscale area, but that's what we wanted. You get to meet real Cubans. It is very safe; in addition to the locked door to the street, this 3rd floor apt has a lockable gate at the front door as well as a lockable door. It has a charming balcony with plants and chairs and table where we sat in the morning and evening and watched the neighborhood activity. I will be returning to Cuba, and I will stay here when in Havana!! ¡Muchísimas gracias Magalis!

This was a fantastic place to stay - we were three adults who comfortably shared the apartment, which was clean and comfortable. Warm shower and nice cold air conditioning. Magaly was so welcoming and gave us lots of tips about good restaurants nearby etc. I would recommend staying in Centro Habana - fewer tourists than in the old city, but still walking distance to the historical sites, the water, etc. We felt safe walking home even late at night and also felt that we got a sense of how ordinary Havanans live. Neighbors were friendly. Street is a bit noisy but the bedroom is set back from the street so no problem getting to sleep. I would recommend this apartment without hesitation to family and friends, and would stay there again.
